About the Botanical and Nature Journal Art Retreat
This retreat-style three-day workshop, is held at a beautiful private property on the banks of the Ringarooma River in North East Tasmania.
Everyone can draw, given a little bit of time and guidance.
So, you will be guided through the process of observing and drawing plants accurately.
You will learn lots of interesting and fascinating facts about plants, Australian ecosystems and general botany.
In this nature retreat, Tanya will explain fundamental botanical terminology to help you identify plants and understand their basic biology.
After the retreat, your new knowledge can be applied to gardening, revegetation and plant identification.
What if We Each Got To Live Our Potential?
What if we each got to live our potential has been a life defining question for Belinda Stinson, the founder of Art Trails Tasmania that she is now finding some answers to.

Botanical Art Rretreat Workshop
The art workshop is suitable for anyone 18 years or older. The only thing you need to bring is enthusiasm.
Regardless of your art ability or botanical knowledge and experience you will find this workshop both very relaxing and inspiring.
Tanya doesn’t expect you to have any prior drawing or botanical experience.
This course will suit anyone interested in observational drawing and natural history illustration even if plants are not their preferred subject matter.
The pace will be gentle, the focus on feeling content and relaxed in a peaceful environment.
Of course, food is part of the experience, too — with fabulous chef-prepared meals!
Developing Botanical Art Skills
By the end of the workshop, you should feel comfortable drawing and will have developed close observational skills. You will appreciate the beauty and complexity of plants in nature through:
• Observational drawing techniques
• An introduction to botanical drawing and nature journaling
• A greater understanding of plant diversity and structure

Artist Profile Stories
I want there to be more arts and crafts in our world, in our communities and in our own lives. Hopefully you’ve found this blog post inspiring and interesting.
So I’m creating, with your help, Art Trails Tasmania, allowing all of us who feel this love to create more of it.
And the Art Trails Tasmania blog is a key part of making this happen, telling the stories of members. It’s about what they have happening with workshops and classes, exhibitions, open studio trails, where to find their outlets, markets, fairs and festivals so you can shop their creations as well as their art and craft retreats.
Also being shared are the supporters of our artists, the galleries, shops, cafes, art societies and groups, places to stay and artist in residencies.
