Renew Your Creative Spirit at the Sheffield Art Gallery
Sheffield Art Gallery is our venue to share local art with other creative people and patrons.
We have many talented local artists and it is a joy to come together collectively in our designated space that is very professional and spacious.
The array of colour and texture is varied and visitors comment regularly on the ambiance of the gallery.
The visitor experience is enriched by the fact that the members of our organisation have come from many different backgrounds and training.
For the Love of Art
The one thing that binds us together is our love of art. Currently there are approximately 30 members who display their work in the gallery frequently.
Tasmania’s Outdoor Art Gallery
Sheffield is known as Tasmania’s Outdoor Art Gallery and this reputation has attracted many local artists.
From small beginnings in 2000, our membership has grown.
As a result, we have moved to our current premises which is a part of the Sheffield Arts Centre complex next to the Mural Park where the annual Muralfest competition is held.
The Kentish Council provided the new gallery to showcase art in recognition of the town’s art theme.
Sheffield Art Gallery is supported well by the Kentish Council. There is a very positive link which is beneficial to all.
A Beautiful Art Gallery
Our gallery building is a pleasant place to showcase our artworks.
Travellers from all over Australia and the world have visited.
It’s interesting to hear their stories and appreciation of our gallery.
We welcome everyone and like to engage in conversation with people from near and far.
Exploring the Mosaic Pathway
Undertaking the creation of the Mosaic Pathway was a large project for our group and very rewarding.
It is located in the King George V Park in the heart of Sheffield and was completed in 2016.
The extensive pathway has many mosaics of Tasmanian Flora and Fauna.
An accompanying mural reflecting the pathway flora and fauna was also created.
A community grant was obtained for this work with many supporters in the town and a great diversity of participants including the local schools.
The park was a cemetery until 1900. The names and details of those interred here are engraved on decorative bricks bordering the larger feature mosaics.
Flourishing with an Art Group
Camaraderie is one of the most positive benefits of being part of our group. There is a great diversity of artisanal skills applied to work with many different mediums.
We collaborate and work together very well. Members are very supportive of each other and encouraging.

About the Art Gallery
Due to an identified need in the community, artists have collaborated to create a space where they could work together and display their work.
The success of the venture has led to our new art gallery in the centre of Sheffield.
The Gallery showcases local artists’ work. The group provides weekly workshops and encourages artistic expression in the community.
Members have the opportunity for individual exhibitions, and a group exhibition is held annually.
The gallery is open daily from 10.00am – 3.00pm.

Artist Profile Stories
I want there to be more arts and crafts in our world, in our communities and in our own lives. Hopefully you’ve found this blog post inspiring and interesting.
So I’m creating, with your help, Art Trails Tasmania, allowing all of us who feel this love to create more of it.
And the Art Trails Tasmania blog is a key part of making this happen, telling the stories of members. It’s about what they have happening with workshops and classes, exhibitions, open studio trails, where to find their outlets, markets, fairs and festivals so you can shop their creations as well as their art and craft retreats.
Also being shared are the supporters of our artists, the galleries, shops, cafes, art societies and groups, places to stay and artist in residencies.
