Frequently Asked Questions – Our FAQ’s
Can anyone be listed on the What’s On Directory Pages?
Active members of the Art Trails Tasmania community can be listed on our What’s On directory pages.
Members who have paused or cancelled their subscription will not appear of the What’s On directory pages.
How long is a membership for?
Our memberships run for 12 months and start from the day you register.
How do I have my Artist and Writer Profile told?
We love sharing our members’ stories through the Artist and Writer Profiles.
To submit your story simply join as either an Artists Ensemble or Artist Profile member and login to the Artist Dashboard.
From there follow the link to the Artist Profile Story page or the Writer Profile page.
You’ll also see the links for sharing the different types of stories, from groups to events etc.
I am not a practicing artist, can I still join?
Yes, you’re most warmly welcomed to join, where ever you are on your creative journey with the Art Lovers membership.
All our members receive the monthly members email newsletter and have access to the growing members only content and receive special offers and rewards.
I have a membership discount coupon, where do I enter it?
Use your discount coupon code on the individual member level registration page, for Art Lover, Artist Profile or Artists Ensemble.
On the left hand side, under the dollar amount, eg. $65/Year, there is Coupon Code: box. Enter your code in the box. It will take a few moments for the discount to be validated and applied if current.
Then you’ll see the dollar amount. Complete the registration and be sure to also complete the security question which is a simple maths question (to stop those nasty bots).
Be sure to click the large black Signup button at the bottom of the registration form to send through your subscription.
If this Signup button at the end of the registation form isn’t clicked you won’t be able to join (because the system doesn’t have your permission to join you).
What types of payments are accepted for membership?
Our preferred type of payment is Stripe. This is for the very simple reasons of security, ease of use, lower fees charged to Art Trails Tasmania, excellent reports and their respect for their customers with their support teams.
We can accept PayPal but are finding them difficult to deal with, expensive with their fees and randomly placing 21 day holds on payments in the account. When these issues happen they will be temporarily switched off (why reward bad behaviour with fee income?).
How do I reset my password?
Passwords can be changed on the Artist Dashboard Account page – in the bottom section.
If you have forgotten your password and need a new one sent to you from the login page enter your user name (the email you signed up with), complete the security question (which is the maths sum) and follow the Forgot Password? Click here link.
You’ll be sent an email allowing you to reset your password.
I’m starting to suspect that Norton software blocks the password reset process and email. If this is the case simply email me and I’ll manually reset a password for you.
I’ve forgotten my password and I haven’t received an email allowing me to reset my password. How can I fix this?
Sometimes it takes a little while for the system to process the request to reset your password. This may be 2-15 minutes (usually 2-3 minutes).
Do also check the email address you are trying to login with as there have been a couple circumstances where the wrong one was used and the system gave the same bounce message about it being either incorrect email or password.
Potentially an easy way to check the email is to do a search of your inbox to see which email address is being used by our system.
Who writes my member’s profile?
I think it is really important as artists for our individual voices to be heard. It can easily feel like everyone else speaks over us at times.
A core focus for Art Trails Tasmania is for our members to be heard. So if you have chosen an Artist Profile or Artists Ensemble membership level you get to tell your own story.
I’ve set up online forms for you to choose between on the Artist Dashboard Account page. Follow the link to your chosen form, eg. the Artist Profile Story link, have a read of the prompts and questions and fill it out.
Many find copying and pasting the prompts and questions into a Pages or a Word document useful so they can think through what they want to say.
Then to simply copy their answers back into the form.
Sadly the form can’t be saved mid way through, sorry about this limitation.
Be sure to include an interesting About the Artist bio.
It is also your opportunity to include up to five links to your website, social media profiles and online shops (like Bluethumb and Redbubble) that will be included in your About the Artist section.
I’ve submitted my story and want to make changes to it, can I just email them to you?
No, stories can only be submitted via the online form. This is for a number of reasons, including technical, system processes and crucially, the consent boxes.
Can I send you my artist statement and images so you can write my profile?
No. I simply don’t have the writing staff to do this. Plus, it is about your voice, your story. My voice is already all over this website and it shouldn’t be in your story.
You need to be in your story. That is far more empowering for you and way more interesting for our readers.
Will you write my What’s On directory blurb for me if I send you my artist statement?
No. For the same reasons as above. And I will only add you to the What’s On directory pages with a blurb because it is important for our readers to have this information about you, to connect with you.
I don’t feel comfortable writing a blurb or a profile in artist speak. Do I have to have it done this way?
No. Artist speak alienates many and I want our readers here to enjoy learning about you. To connect with you and be interested in what you’re doing.
So please write like a human, for an audience who love the arts and crafts. Save the artist speak for the small niche market who want it.
Do I need to share my profile story?
Yes, this is a key part of telling your story and it is something that you’ve agreed to do when you’ve sent in your profile story.
Your Profile story and Event news make the perfect content for your Facebook, Instagram, blog and email newsletter so make sure you use it, so you get the real benefit from this key part of your membership.
You can even post about it again a fortnight, month, even months later. Share it to interested groups (be sure to play by the group’s rules).
Be sure to get involved with likes and comments on the posts about your Profile or Event news. Be seen. Be involved.

Can I log in with my Facebook or Instagram profiles to Art Trails Tasmania?
No, you can not use your Facebook or Instagram (Meta) username to login into Art Trails Tasmania for security purposes for all involved.
To login simply use your Art Trails Tasmania username (your email) and password. You can request a new password from the login screen.
How do I send you my event news information to be shared on your Facebook and Instagram pages?
Artist Ensemble members send in their Event News stories from the Artist Dashboard when they are logged.
How to do I renew my Art Trails Tasmania Membership?
It is very easy to renew your Art Trails Tasmania membership.
In the days before your membership is set to renew you’ll receive an email from the Art Trails Tasmania system letting you know the date.
And once your membership is renewed, you’ll also receive confirmation email. For the majority of members, this will all flow through automatically and be sent a receipt for the payment.
Do note, that if you’re reading this, you are logged in already.
Renew Within 10 Days
All members who have their membership renewed within 10 days of their subscription renewal can be part of the three curated blog stories.
Active Automatically Recurring Subscription
An automatically recurring subscription does not need to be renewed manually as it will automatically renew each set billing cycle.
If you would like to know when your subscription is going to automatically renew, please login to the Artist Dashboard page and navigate to the Subscriptions tab where you will see an expiration date for your subscription. The expiration date listed there is the date your subscription will renew.
This applies for the majority of members.
Lapsed Recurring Subscription
In this case, you have an automatically recurring subscription that has one or more completed payment(s), but that was not successfully billed at your last payment due date because of a lack of funds or expired credit card.
Similar to the above, you do not need to renew an automatically recurring subscription.
Rather you should just go to your Artist Dashboard page > Subscriptions tab > and click the “update” link there.
Doing that will take you to a page where you’ll be able to update your payment details. After doing that, your subscriptions will usually renew in a few business days. And if in doubt, just email me and I’ll have a look.
Generally, there are only a few members who have expiring credit cards so this process is set up to be straight forward for you.
Cancelled Automatically Recurring Subscription
If you have cancelled your automatically recurring subscription and would like to stay listed on the What’s On directory, have your published story/ies remain live, receive the Members’ newsletter, be featured in the three curated blog stories, have discounts on entering the exhibition and for the online shop as well as have continued access to protected Members Only content, then you need to simply repurchase it.
Remember, if you cancelled your subscription during the year, it will still be active for the remainder of the last billing period, and you must wait for that to expire before re-purchasing. If you would like to repurchase your subscription you can do one of the following:
- Login and then navigate back to the registration page for that membership and signup again.
- Login from the Artist Dashboard page > Subscriptions tab. Then, next to your old subscription, click the option that says, “Subscribe”. That will take you to the registration page for that membership.
Non Renewing Members
Only subscribed, current members of Art Trails Tasmania will receive membership benefits, such as being listed on the What’s On directory pages, have your published story/ies remain live, receive the Members’ newsletter, be featured in the three curated blog stories for renewing members, have discounts on entering the exhibition and for the online shop as well as have continued access to protected Members Only content.

How can I find out what events the artists are running and where to buy their work?
A key purpose of Art Trails Tasmania is to make it easy for you to discover artists and creative businesses so you can get along to their events and shop with them, follow them on the socials and join their email newsletters.
To make this happen you’ll find links to our members in the What’s On directory pages, including with the Discover the Artists page.
From these directory pages you can head over to our members’ websites and socials.
With the wide variety of our members, this being a grass roots, artist led initiative and the joy in discovery, we won’t be trying to constantly keep continuously changing event details current on the directories.
We want our members to have visitors flowing from here to their digital presence, so they get new followers and customers from us.
Plus, as I’ve been finding when looking at everyone’s website and socials, it is really fun to pop over and discover what they are doing.
I’m not a member, how do I get my work and creative business listed here?
I have plans for also being able to list Australian artists and creative businesses from different states and territories. This could even include our wonderful Kiwi cousins.
At this stage, I don’t currently have broader international plans.
How can I help promote Art Trails Tasmania for the benefit of all the artists here?
This question is melting my heart. So many of the members are asking this and it honestly tears me up. You’re telling me that I’m doing the right thing with all of this, so heartfelt thanks for that.
You’re also telling me that you GET the value in mutally supporting each other here, and that is how we make great things happen.
Here are five ways to help:
1. Share on the socials what is happening. To be frank, I don’t (yet) know how to share on Instagram but if you do, go for it. I find sharing on Facebook to be easy. When you tag @ArtTrailsTasmania in a post I will see it in my Notifications list, letting me easily pop over to like and comment on your post. I can also see Shares from the individual posts with the outward button and do the like and comment too.
2. Request a bundle of Art Trails Tasmania postcard sized flyers to hand out, either at your gallery, studio, cafe or shop space, at markets and fairs, pop in with your Australian online orders, give our to supportive friends and family etc.
3. Share our members’ stories, their profiles and event news, in your email newsletters. Simply link to the stories, use the featured image and tag our members.
4. Talk about what is happening here at Art Trails Tasmania with family and friends. Word of mouth recommendations are the best sort.
5. Share with the media. If you have any media contacts who love a good arts and crafts story then please let them know about our members and what is happening here. The About page can be helpful for the media. A Media page is on the To Do List. I’m OK with doing print and radio interviews so you can drop me in it.
