West Tamar Art Group: Making Art Amongst the Vineyard
The West Tamar Art Group is a friendly and inclusive community that brings together artists, makers, and art lovers from across the stunning West Tamar region.
Founded in 2013, the group was created to provide local artists with encouragement, inspiration, and opportunities that can flourish within a collective of like-minded creatives.
Members come from across this beautiful part of Tasmania, an area renowned for its rolling vineyards, breathtaking landscapes, and a rich artistic spirit.

A Passion for Creativity is at the Heart of the West Tamar Art Group
At the heart of the group is a passion for creativity in all its forms.
Whether you’re a painter, ceramicist, printmaker, eco-dyer, or work in another medium, you’ll find a welcoming space where your artistic journey is supported and celebrated.
Growing Creatively in a Non-Judgemental Space
WTAG provides a non-judgemental environment where members can showcase their work, develop new skills, and connect with others who share their love of the arts.
A Space for Creativity and Connection with the West Tamar Art Group
WTAG offers a range of opportunities for artists to exhibit their work, participate in workshops, and engage with the wider community.
Meeting from November to April, members can also take part in an annual exhibition in Exeter, an exciting event where they can display their artwork, meet fellow artists, and gain valuable exposure.
Members also help with setting up and supervising the exhibition, creating a great chance to build friendships and share creative insights.
Another key event is the Annual General Meeting, where members come together to discuss the future direction of the group.
This gathering allows everyone to have their say in shaping WTAG’s activities and ensures that the group continues to evolve in a way that benefits its members.

A Diverse and Talented Community
One of the most exciting aspects of WTAG is the incredible variety of artistic styles and skills within the group.
From expressive, free-flowing paintings created with brushes, collage, and even pieces of cardboard, to the intricate detail of collograph printmaking and botanical art, there’s a wealth of talent to discover.
Our ceramicists also showcase a wide range of styles, from beautifully functional pieces to delightfully quirky creations.
Textile artists within the group bring another layer of creativity, with eco-dyed garments that are both unique and wearable.
Creative Strength in Diversity
This diversity is what makes WTAG such a dynamic and inspiring collective, where members can learn from each other and appreciate the richness of different artistic approaches.

Supporting Creative Events
The group’s administration team also works hard to publicise local arts events through social media, helping members stay informed about opportunities to showcase their work and connect with the broader creative community.
You’re Invited to Come Along
Whether you’re an emerging artist, an experienced maker, or simply someone who appreciates art, WTAG invites you to join this supportive and inspiring group.

So I’m creating, with your help, Art Trails Tasmania, allowing all of us who feel this love to create more of it.
And the Art Trails Tasmania blog is a key part of making this happen, telling the stories of members. It’s about what they have happening with workshops and classes, exhibitions, open studio trails, where to find their outlets, markets, fairs and festivals so you can shop their creations as well as their art and craft retreats.
