Immersive 4 Day Stitching Retreat Joy

This Spring Stitching Retreat, tutored by Helen Campbell, will be held in beautiful Sheffield in Tasmania.

The main theme for the four days of stitching is wool applique including embellishment techniques.

If you’re after several days of focussed learning in a relaxed social setting, this is the event for you!

Stitchers & Quilters

With years of teaching experience, Helen Campbell has guided stitchers and quilters of all skill levels through Sue Spargo projects helping them build confidence in embroidery, applique, texture and colour.

Known for her patient, encouraging approach, she creates a welcoming learning environment where students can develop their skills while enjoying the creative journey.

Stitching Retreat Details

Dates: 2nd to 5th October 2026

Time: 9.30 am to 4 pm

Cost: $340 for 4 days tuition. There is a $100 deposit to secure your place.

We welcome participants from confident beginners through to advanced stitchers.

Having experienced one of Helen’s retreats myself I can recommend her as a great teacher.

Meet Helen Campbell 

Helen Campbell is the drawcard for this retreat.

She is an experienced stitching teacher based in Adelaide, with a passion for sharing the beautiful techniques of Sue Spargo’s distinctive style.

Helen will guide us daily from 9.30 am – 4pm.

Art Trails Tasmania: An Artist Led Project

One of the most important features of Art Trails Tasmania is being able to introduce you to a wonderful community of Tasmanian artists, their workshops, exhibitions, creative small businesses, art retreats, events and their stories.

Stitching Retreat Instruction

There will be instruction in:

*Wool applique techniques

*Hand embroidery stitches

*Decorative threads, braids and beads

*Creating texture and dimension in textile projects and quilts.

You can choose any one of Sue Spargo’s projects or you may want assistance with your own work.

Helen will have a variety of kits available to purchase along with her “shop” at the event.
