Be Inspired by the “Journey” Exhibition at the Poatina Tree Art Gallery
Journey: Places of stillness and contemplation – Blue Mountains, Tasmania and beyond, is an exhibition of new watercolour paintings by Dorothy Knox.
The Poatina Tree Gallery
Poatina Village Green, 7392 Tasmania
All About the Exhibition
Knox lives beneath Tasmania’s Great Western Tiers, the ancient Jurassic dolerite bluffs forming the northern escarpment of Tasmania’s Central Highlands.
Although not formally educated she has been mentored by renown watercolourists David Wardman and John Lovett, who have taught, guided and encouraged Knox as she has developed her practice.
This exhibition depicts scenes from the Great Western Tiers to the Blue Mountains, each one a moment in time captured with light and colour.

An Exhibition to Delight
This exhibition is for all art lovers, those who treasure the Tasmanian landscape and have an interest in watercolours.
About Connection
Dorothy Knox’s joy, connection and deep appreciation of the environment that surrounds her is captured in these works.
For Knox, the journey into the world of art is teaching her to see subtleties of light, atmosphere and texture that previously escaped her eye.
A Watercolour Artist
The exhibition features the work of Dorothy Knox, an emerging artist specialising in the watercolour medium.
Knox states: ‘I came to art later in life, almost by accident, but it has opened my world in ways I never expected.’
Knox reflects on picking up a paintbrush and what that means for her: ‘Watercolour captivated me from the beginning. Its fluidity, softness and capacity for unexpected results continue to challenge and delight me, even as I learn its technical complexities. Each painting is a dialogue between intention and chance – one that keeps me curious and inspired.’.
