Textile Art in All Its Forms

Textile art in all its forms will be on display, including functional, decorative, fine and wearable works.

The popular ‘Member Challenge’ pieces for 2024 and 2025 will be displayed alongside the exhibition.

In 2024 the theme was ‘At the Bottom of my Garden’ and in 2025 it was ‘Hidden Stories’.

A Touring Textile Arts Exhibition

The 2024 Challenge pieces will be returning from its year travelling around regional Tasmania and the 2025 exhibit will be beginning its journey around the state.

Leading up to the Out of Hand exhibition, Stitching and Beyond create a display of Tasmanian Flora for the Lightbox to help promote the exhibition.

Members have created leaves, flowers, seed pods and other items showing the beauty and diversity of our wonderful Tasmanian flora.

The items have been created from a variety of techniques, including stitching, weaving and felting and using a range of different textiles and fibres.

The exhibition is being supported by Hobart City Council and Salamanca Arts Centre.

A Members’ Exhibition

The exhibition is inclusive and open to all Stitching and Beyond members, whether they be professional or amateur artists.

This year we are also inviting students of Wild Stitch and HEGYS (Hobart Embroiderers Guild Young Stitchers) to be part of the exhibition.

They have been working hard to create works that will be on display alongside members of Stitching and Beyond.
