Meet Photography Guru Vince Brophy
Creating new ideas that will form into an artistic expression is thrilling.
Knowing that I have created what is in front of my eyes is pleasing and rewarding, it is sometimes an out of the body experience. Also, knowing that I can repeat at leisure what I have created.
The ancient forms of the landscape address my work. The newness of each day, with orange lichen telling me the air is clean. The oldest culture in the world is always remarking and stamping every footfall I make as travel this remarkable wilderness.
The Journey to Photography
I was born an artist.
First as a musician with synesthesia, then as a singer songwriter influenced by the organic nature of what’s around me to write the songs.
Now a photographer that is using this medium as an artist.
Blending the Photography Studio and the House
Where does the studio start and the house begin? Silence the wind and my outlook onto Bass Strait is my art space. Every surface is used to develop art upon.

Artistic Photography
I love photoshop/Lightroom to develop ideas with my photographs.
Seeing shapes and designs in nature helps take the photographs I will develop.

Practising the Art of Photography
I feel more rounded when I’m practising my art. I am more in control of the camera and what it will produce and what I tell to produce.
I sketch with a camera then Lightroom/photoshop.
Taking Creative Risks
I take risks in all environments and produce an organic outcome. I make do with what I have and see if there is a challenge to overcome.
Key Creative Lessons Learnt
Ask questions. Do not be afraid to be wrong, because it’s then that we learn.
It was always a learning curve that continues like digital data.
Be yourself and express with no boundaries.
Experiment, challenge yourself, be honest.
Be bold.
About the Artist
I’m continuing to emerge and feel like I have only just begun.
I am well travelled and seasoned and continue to look outside the box for more and more challenges.
Being an artist means that I am always looking for something to attract the eye.
I am currently at UTAS and I have been influenced by the tutors and their approach to arts: Dr Troy Ruffles & Dr Linda Erceg.
