Kids and Adults Art Classes and Workshops
Art School Hub is the sister company to Art School Co on the mainland. We have been running since 2024, but the birth of Art School began 20 years ago.
It has passed through hands over time and is now Run by Jazz and Cat Lee. With a combined experience of 5 decades, Jazz and Cat run the classes over a 10 week Term, exploring a wide variety of mediums and stylistic approaches.
The classes cater to both kids and adults, beginner through to intermediate students. We operate in the picturesque Huon Valley, and run a multitude of workshops outside of our regular classes.
Building Up Students Creatively
Art School Hub is about building up skills and confidence in students. Providing a studio space for them to access materials and experience hands on learning with the help of trained artists.
We want to build a community of artists who show up to the process of learning with joy and curiosity. In doing so, strengthen their foundational understanding of art making principles and come to develop their own style through the journey of practice.
Creative Challenge and Growth
We encourage our students to challenge themselves and provide directional input whilst maintaining a positive and uplifting experience.
Artist Led Learning
The teachers at Art School Hub all began as artists! Some of us were even students at Art School Co before becoming teachers.
We understand the value in these classes, and are passionate about sharing in our learning!
We love to see our students succeed, and we love to see our team members continuing to pursue their own artistic goals outside of the school.
We make an effort to encourage everyone, students and teachers alike, to submit works into art prizes and exhibitions; and to go and visit any shows they end up being in!

Studio Time and Different Mediums
The classes we run offer up an opportunity to experience a studio environment, gain access to a world of different mediums, provides entry into a community of artists, and allows a unique chance to ask for input from professional artists and apply those learnings to your own work.
The curriculum is the same for each class, but as the teachers get to know each student, we start to understand their learning styles and are able to approach each individual in a way that’s tailored to their learning preferences.
Some people join just to relax, and that’s OK!

An Art School for Kids and Adults
As we are an art school, we attract students from all walks of life and all skill levels.
Our primary classes start from 8 years old, and adult classes have a range of beginner and experienced artists.
We move through 10 different mediums throughout the year and cycle through multiple each term.
It is a joy to see a student discover what his or her favourite medium might be, or stumble across something used in the long lost past and reacquaint themselves in a whole new way.
We generally open a term with a drawing Medium such as Graphite.
Then we would likely move onto something like pastel, charcoal, colour pencil or Biro.
Before getting our hands a little messier with Gouche or watercolour, and knuckling down into a longer study or Acrylic or Oils.

Weekly Classes During Term
Classes run during the school Term and go for 10 weeks.
We currently have five classes weekly, meeting at a variety of times on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Exploring Your Creativity with Workshops
We also host life drawing workshops every month or so in Hobart out of quaint venues such as Five Leaves Left.
Holiday workshops are run for children, and are advertised on our social media pages.
We are also looking to start hosting workshops with guest artists who specialise in specific mediums and large scale works.
Student Exhibitions
We host Student Exhibitions annually to showcase the artwork and learning of all of our students.
It’s a fantastic chance for our community to see the fantastic work that our students are producing, and allows each and every student the opportunity to see their work displayed in an event.
We want to continually celebrate their achievements as we know just how brave you have to be to show up and be open to the idea of not being perfect!
The Huonville Art School Hub Home
Art School Hub is located out of the Anglican Parish building in Huonville. We host our classes and most of our workshops there.
On occasion, we will host workshops in Hobart or surrounds and those venues or locations are shared closer to the date of the workshop.
We are delighted to say that many of our primary students have gone on to submit their work to local art prizes and galleries.
With some students winning prizes and selling their first artworks!
In 2026, our student exhibition is taking place as an event for the Huon Valley Studio Art Trail and will be on the map for people all over the state to come see. Cat has also been along to two of the Bobby Brown Foundation Art Residencies and shown work in the Salamanca Arts Centre.
About the Art School
Art School Hub is a welcoming and inclusive place of learning and creative community nestled in the township of Huonville, offering quality art education for children from 8 years through to adults, from beginners through to intermediate artists.
Run by artists and educators Jascinta (Jazz) Morton and Cat Lee, with the support of two junior teachers, Loxley and Asher, they bring more than 50 years of combined experience in art-making and creative practice and over a decade of teaching experience.
Their classes draw on this, providing students with a strong foundation in drawing and painting, while encouraging curiosity and experimentation.
Students have access to a studio environment and quality art materials, allowing them to explore a variety of mediums and techniques through hands-on learning.
The curriculum changes each term, introducing new mediums, skills, and approaches throughout the year. Each student’s learning style is considered, so the most can be made of their own experience. Since its beginning in 2024, Art School Hub has grown into a friendly and supportive community, teaching students from Hobart through to Cygnet and surrounds.
Our classes are a space to meet others, build confidence and skills, experiment and enjoy the process of art making.
Terms run for 10 weeks and are not centred around production, but around the process of learning new mediums and styles.
We encourage students to continue to push themselves and take on increasingly challenging works, and provide one on one support.
Each year we celebrate their achievements with a Student Exhibition to showcase their learning and individual artworks.
