Workshops and Classes

Here you can discover mainly artist led workshops and classes (yay!!).

Personally I’m a huge believer in learning from fellow artists and makers and have loved every single one I’ve been part of. I think one of the things I love the most is how I end up learning something that I didn’t expect to and it’s given me a great deal of joy.

Basing an art themed holiday around a workshop or class is one of the best ways to experience the place, to get to have authentic connections with local artists and fellow students and have fun.

And if, like many of us,  your holiday is having to take into consideration what a bundle of others want to do you can send them off to the skate park (or whatever) and get along to your workshop! Add a couple yummy cafes with art exhibitions of their own and voilà, you’ve just made your holiday creative.

If you’re like me, you mark the changing of the seasons and the passing of the years with which workshops or classes you were part of, and there in lives the joy in life.

Navigating Tasmania

Below is a map to help orientate yourself with the regions. Do note that this map has some creative license to it rather than being a very specific, professional cartographers creation. Do refer to the Tasmanian Government Official touring map of Tasmania ($5, available online, in Service Tasmania shops and onboard the Spirit of Tasmania) for accurate details. It even has roads and rivers marked on it!

If you’re planning a road trip arts holiday be sure to get hold of a good old fashion printed map of the state. Do not trust Google maps or the navigation maps beyond the city and suburbs as they’re renowned for taking people along unsafe narrow dirt tracks with little opportunity for chucking u- turns (true for all regional, rural and remote areas in Australia). And besides, folding out a map, having an explore is way more fun!
