Colour Workshop
Have you ever looked around where you live and wished that you could transfer not just the shapes but especially the colour to your art?
The beautiful greens of the eucalypts, right through to the gorgeous colours of the exotic flowers in your garden?
And not just the flowers, the leaves, but things like discarded oyster shells as well?
Then this is the workshop for you – two days of exploration and guidance in the unique Colour Circle on Mount Nelson in its gorgeous bushland setting.
Tracy will involve you in processing materials from our own environment to create beautiful ink – pigment – paint.
All About the Workshop
We will begin with Eucalyptus leaves, taking them from dry leaves to making ink, then to ink with iron added and then conversion to a dry pigment.
Tracy will show you how she makes her Viola ink and show some colour shifting with Ph.
We will look at how to make a series of copper-based inks.
We will go through the processing of oyster shells and how Tracy uses the resulting pigment.
We will learn how to make a charcoal pigment and identify potential materials.
There will be time for some ink play in the middle and we will look at an overview of using pigment in various paints.
You will get to take home samples so remember to bring some small jars with you.

A Workshop to Inspire
We are so fortunate to be surrounded by natural environments throughout Tasmania.
Where we live influences the art of many of us: think about those beautiful bays, the forest clad slopes, then look more closely at the detail, textures and colours of the different leaves and flowers we see throughout the various seasons.
To have the oppotunity to learn the skills of using those surrounds to aid our expression of what we love is indeed a wonderful opportunity, especially when our journey over the two days is led by someone who has spent decades learning and refining those skills.
